Quantmleap.com is a blog run by Shim Marom, an internationally experienced project manager and certified PMP who has worked with extensive hands-on Data Modelling and Information Engineering projects for over 13 years. Shim’s blog is topical and relevant for management of all kinds, including that within the project atmosphere.
A former economist-turned project manager, Shim has used Quantmleap as a testament to the time-honoured scientific method of looking at that which is commonly held and testing it’s accuracy and validity.
“My main objective in working on this blog is discussing hot topics in not just Project Management but, more importantly, general management issues and other peripheral topics, including Human Resources and other soft management points.
I’d like to introduce and promote a scientific approach to project management blog-land. Challenging unsubstantiated claims and elaborating on the science behind the perceived reality.”
As a result of this scientific style, Quantmleap evolves from a motivation that information and progress in project management can be achieved through a “sharing is caring” mentality. He freely admits his blog is for the sceptics and social observers of the PPM community. ”I’ve seen the need to introduce a different view regarding the integration of project management and scientific views,” says Shim, who has been blogging at Quantmleap once a week since August 2009.
His most widely read blog post concerned the first of a two-part series on Earned Value Management:
One of his three favourite posts at Quantmleap also deals with EVM, with the other two focused on PMP certification and project failure.
- In the beginning God created the Earned Value Methodology
- Start your PMP Certification Journey here! PMBOK3 vs PMBOK4
- The Scientific Method and the IT Projects Failure Rate debate
