Corporate Geek

Corporate GeekĀ  is a blog that combines the professional passions of veteran IT project manager Ciprian Rusen and delivery manager Richard Newton. Namely, technology, the internet, project management and visual communication. Ciprian, currently with Procter & Gamble and previously of IBM, wrote to us to describe the motivations for Corporate Geek as a viable PM blog:

“I am a geek at heart, passionate about technology, the internet, project management and visual communication,” Ciprian says. “Corporate Geeks wants to share tips & real-life experience about project management. We will do this from two perspectives: the one of senior project managers with lots of experience, which evolved together with the profession; the one of junior project managers, very much in touch with the latest trends in using technology to run projects and working with virtual teams.”

Ciprian says he blogs with an toward sharing his experiences with the greater PPM community, saying that although he posts weekly he tries to blog “mostly when I feel like I’ve got something worthwhile to share.” In essence, Corporate Geek – which targets fellow project managers and corporate project-related personnel alike – is meant to be one of substance for the sake of providing good information, rather than the style of sheer volume.

Ciprian has a good professional background to work from.

“I’ve been delivering IT projects and project management training programs since 2007,” he said, “and I’m PMP (Project Management Professional) certified. I’ve worked in the IT area since 2004, going through roles such as: technical resource, technical lead, freelance consultant and now project manager.

Corporate Geek is a viable resource in the project and programme management community also because of a running feature – a running item called “The Best of the Web for Corporate Geeks”.

“It features the best articles we find on the internet which would be of interest to fellow project managers.”

Ciprian lists his posts on emails and documents as the most popular on the Corporate Geek archive:

Thanks a lot for including our site in the community. Highly appreciated! :D

I have one small ‘mention’. I do not view myself as a veteran IT project manager as I only have 3 years and a few months of experience.
The veteran is Richard Newton, my blogging colleague – with 20 years of experience.
