What’s the Word, Jellybird? is a blog run by Kimba Green, a veteran project manager who took to the job originally as a means to get through university.
“My first project was the building of an ice cream shop and developing that business,” Kimba says. “The profit paid for my college expenses.”
With an average monthly blog rate of 5 posts since its 2009 origins, Kimba says she tries to bring a human touch to the PPM blogosphere through Jellybird. And though the economic downturn hit home with Kimba, that, in turn, has been a boon to her blogging experience, giving her licence to ignore refrain in her writing.
“I felt it was time to take my words to the written word,” she says. “My blog consists of PM from a human perspective and since I am currently unemployed (funemployed!) I have sprinkled that in as well. I’m motivated to share my perspective as I have a lot of opinions. As one of my team members said to me one day, ‘no really Kimba, tell us how you really feel’!”
How Kimba feels comes across through efforts to convey her thoughts on PPM team management, communication, change management and leadership qualities. She says that the most widely read update at the Jellybird came in November 2009 on the suddenness of assuming a leadership role.
