PM Podcast, presented by Cornelius Fichtner, features weekly episodes of pod & vodcasts with several of the leading figures in project and programme management. Cornelius, a certified PMP who has worked internationally as a Project Manager for 16 years, started the blog in August 2005 with an aim to help project management personnel, enthusiasts and beginners in a style that is helpful to all levels of career experience.
“The goal of PM Podcast is to help Project Managers – expert and beginners – on how project management works on different situations through the experience of the guest in my podcast,” he says. “It is a podcast in which you where you can hear the different views of project managers from around the world. They talk about how they perform project management in their field of expertise.”
A native of Switzerland who has worked in his native country, Germany and the USA, Cornelius brings strong expertise of his own to each podcast. He served as the 2007 Chair of the Project Management Institute Orange County Chapter and currently lives in Silverado, California, with his wife and two computers. Cornelius has led projects for a management consulting company, a national retailer, an internet startup company and for one of the oldest financial service providers in the USA.
“My passions are project management methodologies and PMOs,” he says. “We try to publish a new episode every week, but sometimes it takes longer.”
The most widely tracked episode on PM Podcast was a special edition he did with fellow project management podcaster Ron Holohan of pm411, and Sean Futterer, PMP, on PM Web Resources:
Cornelius lists three other episodes as his favourites on the PM Podcast, including one from a pop superstar you might not think of first as a project manager:
- Episode 057: Critical Chain Project Management
- Episode 082: Monkey Management for Project Teams
- Episode 092: Ten Things you can Learn about Project Management from Britney Spears
Cornelius doesn’t rest on the laurels of his work with the PM Podcast, though. He extends his podcasting reach for training purposes within the medium of project management.
“We also offer 2 other podcast that are specific to The PM Exam,” he says. “The PM PrepCast is for PMP Exam Preparation. And the PDU Podcast helps PMPs to earn their PDUs via their portable player.”
