The Plan Is

The Plan Is by Richard Revis is the blog for a small London-based project management firm of the same name that specialises in recovering projects that have fallen apart. Richard, a veteran of defence and telecommunications projects before moving on to project management tools, believes sound project management can wipe out the fires caused by project failure. Appropriate, really.

“One of my projects literally arrived on fire once,” Richard says.

The general idea behind The Plan Is centres on recovery, and how positives can be derived from the embers of failure and negativity. The Plan Is began publishing once a week in September 2009.

“We are writing for project managers – accidental or otherwise. Generally we write articles for fun or when we have a particular axe to grind and there is no one close by to yell at. The Plan Is blog covers project management from the perspective of a start up trying to deliver it’s own project as well as discussing some of the more interesting ways we have seen projects fail.”

Richard says the most popular post on The Plan Is blog centred on recruitment:

Finding programmers for your startup

His three favourite The Plan Is posts delved heavily into startups, tracking and coping with failure:

The upside of outsourcing disasters

Reputation tracking
