Easy in Theory, Difficult in Practice is a blog offered Kiron Bondale, a manager of multiple mid-to-large sized application development and systems integration projects. Kiron has set up and managed Project Management Offices (PMO) and, as Manager of Client Services for Solution Q, has provided project portfolio management and project management consulting services to clients across multiple industries.
Kiron started Easy in Theory in July 2009 and offers new posts on a weekly basis. Tailored for an audience consisting of executives, mid-level management and project management personnel, the blog serves Kiron’s desire to share his thoughts and beliefs about PPM with a broader audience than his clients and colleagues.
“I started the blog to share some of the paradoxes, pet peeves and “good” practices related to change & project portfolio management,” Kiron says. “I’d describe Easy in Theory, Difficult in Practice as a pragmatic, sometimes humorous but always no-holds barred assessment of the PPM world.”
“Agree with my views, or disagree with them – either way, you’ll have to admit that I’m providing good food for thought!”
Kiron says the most widely read blog post on Easy in Theory dealt with a schedule-oriented variation on the Seven Deadly Sins
His three favourite posts all date from 2009 with intriguing takes on management in general:
- Coffee, Tea or Anesthesia?
- When process non-compliance is a failure of management (instead of change management)
- The dualism of the PMP credential and challenges with any knowledge-based certification

I love reading Kiron’s blog, he has some excellent articles more recently on the softer side of PM including a look at sponsors and stakeholders
