Beyond The Firewall is a blog by Stew Apelzin, one that actively promotes a page of posts about “software development, healthcare, acting, racquetball”. Or, as the Oregon native says, the things that “tickle my fancy. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them too.”
A cursory glance at his first page of posts, though, reveals a wealth of posts featuring a variety of how-to and what to avoid lists that more than once list “project” in the title in some way. In short, Stew the software developer and thespian has a keen eye for project management.
Stew’s experience as a software developer, web developer and project manager gives him the opportunity to share his world on Beyond the Firewall or, as he says, “a chance to share my thoughts on things that interest me.” That experience includes 20+ years of software development and management experience.
“I’ve worked on the development of products ranging from critical care devices to the computer game Myst,” he says.
Stew makes the blog available to a wealth of guest contributors of renown in project management. One recent example is a contribution from Stacy A. Goff that featured in Goff’s chapter in the acclaimed new book of essays collected by David Cleland, Project Management Circa 2025 by the Project Management Institute. There is attribution to other lists and creations:
- Project is in Danger Warning Signs – Georgina Laidlaw
- The Case from Project Management – C. Wayne Peal
