The Lazy Project Manager
The Lazy Project Manager by Peter Taylor is one of many tools this veteran of project management has going in conjunction with his industry-acclaimed book of the same name that can be had at the website of the same name. He also hosts free podcasts, available on iTunes.
Peter is a dynamic and commercially astute professional who has achieved notable success in Project Management; currently as head of a PMO at Siemens PLM Software supplier of global product lifecycle management solutions. He is also very interested in maintaining a good work/life balance. Peter is an accomplished communicator and leader and is a professional speaker. He says the blog expands upon his meme to develop the art of productive laziness. Lazy Project Manager is geared for all project managers and anyone associated with projects. Peter says his inspiration to share the notion stems from a quote by Robert Heinlein:
“Progress isn’t made by early risers. It’s made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something.”
“I wanted to reach out to people in the project community and share my thoughts on productive laziness,” Peter says.
“With the blog, I want my readers to learn about the art of productive laziness with The Lazy Project Manager; understanding what is meant by the ‘productive lazy’ approach to Projects (and life) and learn how to apply these lessons ‘to be twice as productive and still leave the office early’. I want to help project managers become better managers of their own time – and to become more successful.”
There are no gimmicks or attempts to add running features to the blog. Well, except for one gimmick: Peter’s style reflects someone who does things in an, appropriately, laid-back manner since he premiered The Lazy Project Manager in January 2009.
“The blog tends to be a combination of ‘lazy’ themed articles and personal updates on my work as author and PMO leader,” he says.
Peter says the most popular post on The Lazy Project Manager drew from the title of an old Clint Eastwood film:
The good, the bad and the ugly
