Change Through Action

Change Through Action is a pragmatic and constructive change and leadership blog from Deanne Earle which started in July 2009. Change Through Action is a way for Deanne to share her experience and generate constructive debate to a wider audience interested in project delivery, leadership and coaching & mentoring.The Change Through Action blog is for all leaders and project managers whether long in the tooth, attended formal training or qualified by experience.

The Change Through Action blog is described by Deanne as;

“A place where those aspects of change that frustrate many of us can be talked about openly. I want others to know that change doesn’t have to be so difficult (after all change is constant so why does it cause so many problems?), that it is possible to get the core of a problem quickly and resolve it without being totally hamstrung by politics and agendas.”

Deanne is a native Kiwi with very itchy (travel) feet and she has worked on and led many IT-led business-process changing projects in many countries around the globe for over 20 years. Not to be confused with the techies amongst us, Deanne comes from a business focused background mainly in FMCG organisations. Her experience, personality and approach mean she tends to inherit those projects that are either in chaos or crisis.

Being able to build relationships, trust and understand the business and personal impact is critical to getting anything done, especially if you need to do it fast. There are too many people (leaders, managers and project managers) who see and treat others like a commodity; something that can be disposed of or directed at will. You can’t build trust with that kind of attitude. Everyone has potential, they just have to be given the chance to reach and exceed it and this is where I like to operate – help others maximise their potential while also delivering what the business needs, fast.”
